The Adler Primus , a car with rear-wheel drive of Adlerwerke in Frankfurt am Main, came 1932 on the market. It was the sister model of the front-wheel drive Trumpf , for which the same water-cooled four - cylinder in - line engines with 1.5 and 1.65 liters displacement were used. Otto Göckeritz was responsible for the classic construction .

By 1936, 6713 Primus A (1.5 / 1.65 l) could be sold. The Primus E presented in 1937 with a 1.65 liter engine was built 990 times.
