Today's Adler pharmacy in Worms

The Adler Pharmacy (formerly “Palais Prittwitz” ) is a historic building in Worms .

Geographical location

The building is located at the intersection of Andreasstrasse and Neumarkt to the east and not far from the cathedral.

history

The corner house was originally built as a residential palace in the first half of the early 18th century, hence the original name "Palais Prittwitz" . Together with the Holy Trinity Church , which was inaugurated at the same time , it stands almost unchanged in the vicinity of Worms Cathedral . In the 18th century it was the residence of the von Prittwitz family. The pharmacy has existed since 1795, originally under the name "Fortuna", and since the 19th century as the "Adler Pharmacy". Theodor Salzer was the owner of the pharmacy between 1857 and 1891 .

The building is now a cultural monument due to the monument protection law of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

description

The baroque style, three-story building has an almost cubic shape and a mansard roof . The rich and filigree decoration of the window parapets and the pilasters that emphasize the corners are striking . At the rear there is a door run .

A memorial plaque for the composer Rudi Stephan , who was born here in 1887, was placed on the façade facing Andreasstrasse .

Current usage

The building houses a pharmacy on the ground floor, and various medical practices or joint practices and apartments are located on the floors above .
