Adolf Kamphausen

Adolf Hermann Heinrich Kamphausen (born September 10, 1829 in Solingen , † September 13, 1909 in Bonn ) was a German Protestant theologian (Old Testament scholar).

After attending grammar school in Elberfeld (1844–1849) and graduating from high school there, Kamphausen studied theology, received a doctorate in 1855 and qualified as a professor. From 1855 to 1859 he was in Heidelberg, where he taught and supported Christian Karl Josias von Bunsen in his biblical work. From 1863 he was initially an associate professor and from 1868 a full professor at the University of Bonn . In 1893/94 he was rector of the university.
