Adolf Lettenbauer
Adolf Lettenbauer (born September 24, 1923 in Wemding , † December 14, 2016 in Augsburg ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1966 to 1976 he was first mayor of Schwabmünchen and member of the Bavarian state parliament .
Life and work
Adolf Lettenbauer was born in Swabia as the son of a master mail conductor . In Nördlingen he attended grammar school and then the Bavarian Administration School , where he passed the state examination for high-level administration. During the Second World War , Lettenbauer was taken prisoner of war as a Wehrmacht soldier. After the Second World War he was employed at the district office in Nördlingen and from 1949 at the district office in Schwabmünchen. He was married and had one child.

Adolf Lettenbauer joined the SPD on June 1, 1953 and was elected to the district council of the Schwabmünchen district on March 27, 1960.
On January 20, 1962, he was put up as a candidate for the state parliament by the SPD and elected to the Bavarian state parliament in the Schwaben constituency on November 25, 1962 . There he was a member of the Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Local Affairs (1962–1966), the Committee on Civil Service Law and Salary and the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Election Review (1966–1970). On December 2, 1970, he resigned from parliament.
In 1966, Adolf Lettenbauer ran for the office of First Mayor of Schwabmünchen and was elected to this office in the second ballot on March 27, 1966. Outstanding events during his tenure as First Mayor were the founding of the Leonhard Wagner Schools in Schwabmünchen (school center with grammar school, secondary school and secondary school with around 2400 students, originally designed as a comprehensive school trial) and the establishment of a twinning with Giromagny ( France ). In 1972 Lettenbauer was confirmed in office as first mayor by 61% of the electorate. He held the office until February 29, 1976.
