Adolf Maurer

Adolf Maurer (born June 4, 1883 in Zurich ; † March 2, 1976 in Brüttisellen ) was a Swiss pastor and writer .

Life

Maurer studied Protestant theology at the University of Zurich from 1902 to 1906 and then worked as pastor of the Reformed Church in Zell , Schwamendingen  and Wiedikon until 1948 . From 1919 to 1968 he worked as editor of the Zwingli calendar and from 1921 to 1960 for the church messenger . He was also involved in the Church Synod as a member of the religious-social faction and in the "Association of Antimilitarist Pastors".

In 1931 Maurer received an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich for his literary work; In 1933 he was refused a teaching position at the same theological faculty by the Zurich government council because of his pacifist involvement.
