Adolf Schaffer

Adolf Schaffer (born January 5, 1840 in Bregenz , † January 24, 1905 in Laibach ) was an Austrian politician and theater director.

Life

Born as the son of a magistrate, Schaffer studied law in Vienna after attending the Ljubljana grammar school . In 1863 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . From 1871 to 1883 he was a member of the Ljubljana municipal council. From 1873 to 1879 he was a member of the Reichsrat for the city of Ljubljana . From 1877 to 1883 and from 1889 to 1905 he was a member of the Krainer Landtag , first for the Ljubljana Chamber of Commerce and Industry and then for the landowner curia. From 1877 he was also a member of the regional committee , from 1895 of the Krainian regional school board . In addition, he was director of the German Theater in Ljubljana for 20 years and a member of the Ljubljana Theater Association and the casino club there. From 1888 he was a member of the management of the Krainische Sparkasse.

Honors

  • 1898: Order of the Iron Crown , Knight's Cross 3rd Class.
  • Honorary member of the Ljubljana German Gymnastics Club, which he helped found.
  • Honorary boy of the fraternity Carniola Graz .
