Adolf Schmidt (doctor, 1865)

Adolf Schmidt (born March 7, 1865 in Bremen , † November 11, 1918 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German internist and university professor. In 1913 he founded the Medical Faculty Conference .

Life

Schmidt studied mathematics , natural sciences and medicine at the universities of Jena , Tübingen , Berlin and Bonn . 1889 doctorate he in Bonn with a thesis on "the physiology of the renal secretion" to Dr. med. and completed his habilitation there in 1895 for internal medicine . On July 1, 1907, he was appointed full professor and director of the Medical Polyclinic at the University of Halle. From 1912 he was editor of the Zentralblatt for internal medicine .

1915/16 he was dean of the medical faculty, 1916/17 rector of the University of Halle. The subject of his speech at the beginning of the rectorate of the united Friedrichs-Universität Halle-Wittenberg on July 12, 1916 was constitution and its influence . Schmidt died at the age of 53 shortly after the end of the First World War during the November Revolution .

The Adolf Schmidt Medal of the German Medical Faculty Conference is named after him.
