Adolf Sievers

Adolf Sievers (born April 19, 1896 in Brokdorf , † April 10, 1981 in Wilster ) was a German teacher and Low German author .

Adolf Sievers came from a Brokdorf family of teachers. He attended the preparatory institute of today's Ludwig-Meyn-Gymnasium in Uetersen . At the beginning of World War I , he volunteered, was wounded in Poland and, after recovering, was sent to the Western Front . In 1920 he completed his training and began working as a teacher at the elementary school in Wilster. From 1946 until his retirement in 1962 he was the principal of the elementary school. He also founded one of the country's first adult education centers in 1946 on behalf of the British military government .

In 1926 Sievers began to publish poems and stories, first in High German, then in Low German. He wrote a number of Low German plays, the most successful of which have been performed several times. Together with other teachers, he founded a theater group in Wilster that was named after Johann Meyer . In 1929 he published the anthology Ut de Masch with texts by Schleswig-Holstein's authors.
