from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adolf VIII († October 13, 1370 in Famagusta on Cyprus ) ruled the county of Holstein-Pinneberg and the ancestral county of Schauenburg from 1353 to 1370.

He was the son of Adolf VII von Holstein-Schauenburg (* approx. 1297; † June 5, 1354) and Heilwig zur Lippe. He conquered Pinneberg Castle from an unknown knightly family, probably shortly before he set out on a pilgrimage to Palestine to the tomb of Christ, on which he died on October 13, 1370 in Famagusta, Cyprus . He left no heir. His successor was his brother Otto I.
