Adolf Wolff (engineer)
Adolf Wolff (born March 8, 1894 in Goslar ; † September 6, 1964 in Munich ) was a German mechanical engineer .
After studying at the TH Hannover , he first worked for Hanomag , from 1917 for Hohenzollern before he went to Borsig in Berlin in 1919 .
As an engineer at Borsig, he was involved in the design of the standard steam locomotives for the Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1922 . In 1938 he succeeded August Meister as chief engineer at Borsig. From 1932 he was responsible, among other things, for the design of the class 05 high-speed locomotive . A locomotive of this series, the 05 002, set the world speed record for steam locomotives on May 11, 1936 with 200.4 km / h.
After the Second World War , Adolf Wolff moved to Krauss-Maffei in Munich. There he was in charge of repairs for the restart of the 05 series for the German Federal Railroad in 1950 .
