Adolph Zsigmondy

Adolph Zsigmondy (born April 24, 1816 in Pressburg , † June 23, 1880 ) was an Austrian dentist of Hungarian descent. Doctorates in Vienna : 1840 Dr. med. , 1843 Dr. chir. and in 1853 to the dentist. In 1848 he became the primary physician in the prison and at the same time acted as chief physician at the Augarten emergency hospital during and after the siege of Vienna .

He was an employee of Moriz Heider , a pioneer in the field of scientific dentistry , and continued his work. But he became known for his development of the Zsigmondy tooth scheme , which is still sometimes in use today. He was the first to describe the proximal contact and its wear. He further developed the gold hammer filling .

He was also Empress Sisi's dentist .

Adolph Zsigmondy was the father of Emil, Karl, Otto and Richard Zsigmondy

His son Otto continued his work.
