Adolphe Jérôme Blanqui [ aˈdɔlf ʒeˈʀoːm blɑ̃ˈki ] ( Blanqui l'aîné ) (born  November 21, 1798 in Nice , †  January 28, 1854 in Paris ) was a French economist .

Life

He was the son of convent member Jean Dominique Blanqui and brother of the communist Louis-Auguste Blanqui . Blanqui studied in Paris philology and economics . On the recommendation of the economist Jean-Baptiste Say , whose direction Blanqui belonged, he became professor at the Paris School of Commerce (now ESCP Europe ) in 1825 and director of the same in 1830. In 1833 he was appointed professor at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers , in 1838 a member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences . From the same he was sent to Corsica , and in 1839 to Algeria to study the needs of these countries, the conditions of which he illuminated with frankness. Blanqui processed the results of his extensive travels to many European countries in several works.

His main work is the Histoire de l'économie politique en Europe (Paris 1838, 2 volumes, 4th edition 1860). That Blanqui did not share all of Says' views is shown by his work at the Producteur , a magazine of the Saint-Simonists , and then his paper on the situation of the working classes: Des classes ouvrières en France pendant l'année 1848 (Paris 1849).
