Karl Umpfenbach (born June 5, 1832 in Gießen ; † June 24, 1907 there ) was a German economist in Würzburg and Königsberg.

Life

Umpfenbach was the son of the mathematician Hermann Umpfenbach . His grandfather Hans Adam Umpfenbach was a justice of the peace in Mainz, France at the time . After graduating from high school , he studied political science and camera science at the Hessian Ludwig University from 1848 . In the winter semester of 1848/49 he became a member of the Corps Hassia Gießen . In 1851 he became an accessist at the Obersteuerdirektion Darmstadt . After the state examination, he embarked on an academic career. In 1855 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . He completed his habilitation in 1856 and became a private lecturer at the age of 24 . In 1864, he was appointed University of Würzburg as o. Professor of Economics. On August 14, 1864, he married Amalie von Klipstein in Gießen. In 1873 he accepted the call of the Albertus University in Königsberg to the chair of economics. In 1878/79 he was Vice Rector of the Albertina. In 1900 he was the Prussian Crown to go. Councilor appointed. He retired in Giessen.
