Adolphe and Arthur Caille
The siblings Adolphe (* 1862 in Detroit , Michigan ) and Auguste Arthur (* 1867 , ibid) Caille are the inventors of the first slot machine .
Life
The brothers grew up in Detroit, moved with their parents to Owosso in 1876 and to East Saginaw in 1880 . Adolphe initially worked there as a carpenter . The brothers later invented the first automatic cash register . The coins were arranged by a wire system. In 1888 they founded the Caille Cash Carrier Company .
A year later, they invented the first slot machine, the Caille Black Cat in 1889 . The later company Caille Bros. Co. was the largest slot machine manufacturer in the USA around 1901.
