Adrián Romero , full name Adrián Marcelo Romero González , (born June 25, 1977 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Depending on the sources, 1.74 meters or 1.82 meters tall, in the defense or in the defensive midfield player Romero was at the beginning of his career at least from the Apertura up to and including the Clausura 2003 under contract with Club Atlético Cerro . There are a total of 136 games and 16 goals for him. In 2004 he played 13 games (one goal) in the Torneo Clasificatorio for Nacional Montevideo . In the same year he was in the Apertura eleven times for the Argentine first division team Estudiantes de La Plata on the field. In the Apertura 2005 and the Clausura 2006 he played for Tiro Federal and came to a total of 24 missions. He got a hit. From the Apertura 2006 up to and including the Clausura 2009 he was back in the ranks of Nacional Montevideo. During this period he ran at least 32 times for the Montevideans named Bolsos and scored twice. His club were Uruguayan champions in the 2008/09 season. He then moved to Querétaro in Mexico in 2009 . Until 2011 he was used there in 62 games in the Primera División and scored two goals (2009/10: 31 (1); 2010/11: 29 (1)). In 2011 he was loaned by the Mexicans to the Paraguayan club Olimpia Asunción with an option to buy. In total, he played 34 league games for the Paraguayans and scored five goals. He also played six games in the Copa Sudamericana (two goals) and the Copa Libertadores (no goal). After Olimpia Asunción did not take the purchase option, he returned to the Mexicans and from there moved again to Nacional Montevideo in 2012. In the 2012/13 season he played 19 Primera División matches , scored one goal and was also used in seven Copa Libertadores games and three Copa Sudamericana clashes - each without a personal goal. At Apertura 2013 he joined the league competitor Cerro Largo FC . At the club from Melo in Eastern Uruguay, he was featured in the Primera División 13 times and scored three times in the opposing goal. During the season in 2014 he moved to the top Uruguayan league club Miramar Misiones and was used nine times by the end of the round (no goal). In the 2014/15 season, there are no further mandatory league games or a squad membership for him. At the end of September 2015, after around one and a half years without a club, he announced his retirement as a professional footballer. After the end of his engagement with Miramar, he turned down an offer to continue his career in Paraguay. There were no other options afterwards.

National team

Romero was a member of the Uruguayan senior team . He made his debut on July 24, 2003 under national coach Juan Ramón Carrasco , when he was part of the starting XI in the friendly against the selection of Peru . He made a total of seven international matches (one goal) for Uruguay. His last appearance was on June 6, 2004 in the 5-0 defeat by Colombia in World Cup qualification. At that time, the Celeste coach was Jorge Fossati .
