from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adrian Iovita is a Romanian - Canadian mathematician.

Iovita studied mathematics at the University of Bucharest with a degree in 1978 and received his doctorate in 1996 from the Boston University under Glenn Stevens (p-adic cohomology of abelian varieties). As a post-doctoral student he was in Montreal (McGill and Concordia University). In 1998 he became an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington and in 2003 Professor at Concordia University .

Among other things, he was visiting scholar in Paris, Padua (visiting professor), Münster, Jerusalem and Nottingham.

Iovita deals with number theory (arithmetic algebraic geometry, p-adic cohomology theories).

In 2008 he received the Ribenboim Prize . He is invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Rio de Janeiro 2018 (p-adic variation of automorphic sheaves, with Vincent Pilloni , Fabrizio Andreatta ).
