Adrian Schücking

Christoph Bernhard Adrian Schücking (born July 13, 1852 in Cologne , † June 2, 1914 in Pyrmont ) was a German doctor and member of parliament.

Adrian Schücking was the son of the writer couple Levin Schücking and Louise von Gall . Walther Schücking was his uncle. He attended high school in Münster and then studied medicine. On June 18, 1877 he was in Leipzig at the ophthalmologist Adolf Coccius Dr. med. PhD. He first worked as a gynecologist.

In October 1877 he was recruited in Vienna for the promise of high wages as a military doctor for the Ottoman Empire and was head of Turkish military hospitals in Orhaniye (now Botevgrad ) and Etropole during the winter months of 1877/78 - during the final phase of the Russo-Ottoman War . After the Russians took the latter, he became a prisoner of war and was brought to Sistowa .

Later he was the founder and owner of the sanatorium on Hylligen Born and co-founder and chief doctor of the Helenen children's home in Pyrmont. In addition, he held numerous honorary positions and was appointed to the medical council.

Schücking represented liberal positions politically. From 1893 to 1899, 1901 to 1905 and 1911 to 1914 he was a member of the Waldeck-Pyrmont Landtag for the Pyrmont district. From 1893 to 1899 he ran first for the National Liberal Party , then for the Free People's Party and finally for the Progressive People's Party . In the replacement election on July 9, 1895, he ran in the Reichstag constituency Waldeck-Pyrmont for the FrVP, but could not qualify for the runoff election with 1778 votes (21%) .
