Adrien André Maria Cimichella

Adrien André Maria Cimichella OSM (born February 21, 1921 in Grotte Santo Stefano ; † July 21, 2004 in Montreal ) was a Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Montréal .

Life

Adrien André Maria Cimichella came to Canada as a child . He joined the Order of the Servites and was ordained a priest for this order on May 26, 1945 . From 1946 to 1955 he was provisional secretary of the Servites for the Winnipeg region. In 1955 he returned to Montreal to become pastor in the parish of Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel . In May 1964 he was appointed Superior Provincial of his order.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 5, 1964 auxiliary bishop in Montréal and titular bishop of Quiza . The Archbishop of Montréal, Cardinal Paul-Émile Léger PSS , donated him episcopal ordination on July 16 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Valérien Bélanger , auxiliary bishop in Montréal, and Paul Grégoire , auxiliary bishop in Montréal.

He attended the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . On April 25, 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
