Advanced Design System

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Advanced Design System , or ADS for short , is a simulation software from Keysight Technologies for the simulation of electrical circuits for high-frequency technology and represents an industry standard in this segment .

Among other things, ADS provides a complete development environment for the calculation and dimensioning of conductor track structures . This includes the dimensioning, simulation and optimization of high-frequency modules , for example in the area of strip lines (microstrip), to optimize antenna designs such as PIF and patch antennas , or the design of impedance converters including the electronic components used discreetly such as HF transistors or PIN Diodes . These circuit components are used as HF modules, for example in cell phones , wireless local area networks (WLAN), radar technology or in low-noise signal converters (LNB) in the area of satellite receivers.

Through the simulation, despite the associated high computational effort, various optimizations and variations in the structure can be tried out or found empirically , which cannot be specifically found due to the time and material expenditure in circuit tests that are only practically structured. One focus is the calculation of the effects of electromigration .

In addition to a SPICE - algorithm ADS following simulation options includes:

  • Linear
  • Harmonic balance
  • Circuit envelope
  • High-frequency SPICE
  • Convolution
  • RF system simulator
  • Momentum
  • Momentum visualization
  • Momentum Optimization
  • Statistical design
  • Ptolemy
  • HDL co-simulation
