Aenne Pahl (born January 1, 1896 in Hanover , † May 1979 in Stuttgart ; maiden name Anne Frank ) was a German painter.
Live and act
Anne Frank grew up in Hanover as one of three sisters and from 1914 attended the Hanover School of Applied Arts . From 1916 she took private lessons with Carry van Biema , a student of Adolf Hölzel . In 1918 Frank moved to Stuttgart, made contact with the Hölzel district and learned from Ida Kerkovius . In 1919 she met her future husband, Manfred Pahl , who was a master student of Hölzel. Study trips took her to Italy in 1925 and to Paris in 1928 . In 1930 the family moved to Berlin . From 1933, the couple was banned from exhibiting because of their Jewish descent. In 1944, Pahl was arrested by the Gestapo in Potsdam and interned in the Jewish Hospital in Berlin. Large parts of their work were destroyed by the war-related bombardment. In the 1980s, her husband set up his own Pahl Museum in Mainhardt-Gailsbach near Schwäbisch Hall , in which her works are also exhibited. Pahl had two daughters.
