The Aermacchi Zeffiro is a motor scooter that the Italian company Aeronautica Macchi manufactured from 1955 to 1960. "Zeffiro" means " Zephyr " in German .
history
As early as 1951, the manufacturer offered its first motor scooter, the Cigno , based on the model of the quite successful competitor Moto Guzzi Galletto with large (17 ″) wheels. The Zeffiro replaced its successor Ghibli from 1955 .
technology
Engine and drive
The Zeffiro has an air-cooled single - cylinder two-stroke engine with an almost horizontal cylinder. On the left stump of the double-bearing crankshaft there is a multi-disc dry clutch via which the engine power is transmitted to a straight-toothed three-speed gearbox. The transmission is connected to the rear wheel by a machine chain.
The 7 liter tank for a two-stroke mixture is under the saddle.
Wheels and brakes
The 17 ″ wheels are wire-spoke wheels and have half-hub drum brakes . The rear brake is operated via a foot lever on the left side of the engine and a linkage, the front with a cable from the handlebars.
