Maria Agatha Vonmentlen , and Maria Agatha of Mentlen (* 1585 , † 24. April 1665 in the monastery paradise , community Schlatt TG ; heimatberechtigt in Altdorf ) was a Swiss abbess in the monastery paradise.

Life

She was the daughter of Philip Ludwig Vonmentlen, provincial governor of Baden and chief administrative officer. In 1603 she entered the Poor Clare Monastery , took her religious vows in 1606 and was abbess of the monastery from 1634 to 1643. Vonmentlen is considered a good administrator in times of war, plague and high prices. In 1604 she saw the move to the new convent building. Because Swedish troops invaded Stein am Rhein in 1633 and besieged the city of Constance , half of the sisters were sent home. As abbess Vonmentlen offered two Poor Clares and the abbess of the mother monastery in Villingen (Baden, D) asylum. In 1640 it obtained from Emperor Ferdinand III. a privilege that confirmed ownership and rights to the Paradies monastery.
