Agave pumila is a species ofthe agave genus ( agave ). An English common name is "Dwarf Century Plant".

description

Agave pumila grows in two forms and remains in its youth stage for 8 to 10 years. In the adult stage, the open rosettes are thick-stemmed with heights of 40 to 60 cm and 60 to 70 cm wide. The variably arranged, deltoid to lanceolate-shaped, stiff, gray-green leaves thickened at the base are 30 to 38 cm long and 4 to 4.5 cm wide. The white, narrow, horny leaf margins are toothed flexibly. The strong brown end thorn is up to 1.5 cm long.

The inflorescence is unknown.

Systematics and distribution

Agave pumila is only known from culture.

The first description by John Gilbert Baker was published in 1888. A synonym is agave simonis hoard. ex A.Berger .

Agave pumila is a member of the Marginatae group . The species could be a natural hybrid between Agave victoriae-reginae and Agave lechuguilla . It is grown in the Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California and Europe.
