The ATP tournament in Genoa (officially Internazionali di Genoa , most recently IP Cup ) was an Italian men's tennis tournament . In 1990 the tournament, which was held in Bari ( Apulia ) for the first time in 1984 , moved to Liguria . The game was played outdoors on clay, the venue was the Centro Sportivo Valletta Cambiaso in Genoa . The event was scheduled in the week before Wimbledon and was part of the ATP World Series, the predecessor of the ATP World Tour 250 . In the 1994 season, the tournament license was passed on to St. Pölten .

In the individual, Thomas Muster was able to win the tournament once in Bari and once in Genoa, making him the record winner; in doubles Claudio Panatta won twice in Bari (once also the individual competition); last Italian winner was Claudio Pistolesi .

Since 2003 a tennis tournament has been held in Genoa as part of the ATP Challenger Tour , it runs under the name AON Open and is also played on clay courts.
