Henrik Sundström (born February 29, 1964 in Lund ) is a former Swedish tennis player . Today he works in the real estate business and as a cultural manager.

Sports

In his professional career, he won a total of five tennis tournaments, including the Swedish Open in 1984 . At the German Open he was in the final in 1984 and 1985, but had to admit defeat to Juan Aguilera and Miloslav Mečíř .

He reached his highest position in the ATP world rankings in 1984 with 6th place.

With the Swedish team he also won the Davis Cup in 1984 and 1985 .

Since 1985 he has increasingly suffered from back problems. He has hardly played since 1986 and had to end his competitive sports career in 1989 due to an injury.

After the sport

After his tennis career, Sundström started working in the real estate business. In addition, he is the managing director of a non-profit development company in Hennickendorf in the state of Brandenburg , the former facilities of the cement works Rüdersdorf , u. a. the former power station, used for cultural purposes. Since 2004 he has been organizing the Stienitzsee Open, a running event where athletes encounter art objects designed by regional artists. Sundström also deals theoretically with the links between art and sport. His model is the healing concept of the US Mayo Clinic . Thereafter, therapy and leisure activities should serve as an aid to well-being.

Private

Sundström now lives in Monaco and is married to a Monegasque woman. The couple have two children. In his youth, Sundström was also a talented clarinetist.
