Alsen cable car

The Agethorster cable car , also called Alsensche cable car , abbreviated to ADSB , was one of the longest industrial cable cars in Europe and connected the Alsens clay pits in the communities of Wacken , Agethorst and Nienbüttel with the Alsen cement works in Itzehoe . It was built in 1908 by the company Adolf Bleichert & Co. , had a total length of 13.5 kilometers and remained in operation until 1977.

During their operating time, the 270 hanging transported Loren daily 400 t sound to Itzehoe. The runway ran at a speed of 150 m per minute over 103 supports that were set up at a distance of 100 to 300 m. The height of the supports varied between eight and twelve meters over land, rose to 22 m above the Bekau valley and reached its maximum at 51.5 m above the Stör, which is used by ships . The carrying ropes had a diameter of 33 to 35 mm on the so-called full side and 22 mm on the empty side . In 2013 there were still two of the former cable car supports in Oldendorf (Lage) and Itzehoe (Lage) . The cable car masts are also shown in the coat of arms of the municipality of Agethorst .
