Alsens clay pit is the southern part of two remaining open- cast mining holes owned by Alsen in the Steinburg district in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, east of the town of Wacken . The lake is about 15 hectares.

There is a swimming area on the western side of the lake, and there is also a parking lot with a place to rest. There is a restaurant on the east side. The Agethorster cable car , also called Alsensche cable car , abbreviated to ADSB , was one of the longest industrial cable cars in Europe and connected the Alsens clay pits in the communities of Wacken , Agethorst and Nienbüttel with the Alsen cement works in Itzehoe . It was created by the company Adolf Bleichert & Co. , had a total length of 13.5 kilometers and remained in operation until 1977.
