Agnes Keyser (born April 20, 1869 , † May 11, 1941 in London ) was an English courtesan and mistress of King Edward VII of Great Britain , later she was known as sister Agnes .

Agnes Keyser was the wealthy daughter of a London stockbroker. She received an excellent upbringing for a girl in the Victorian era , she was considered precocious and extremely intelligent. Before she caught the attention of the Prince of Wales (1841-1910), she was the lover of the Portuguese nobleman, diplomat , courtier and womanizer par excellence , Marquis Luis Augusto Pinto de Soveral (1855-1922). Agnes Keyser had to share the favor of the Prince and later King of Great Britain with Alice Keppel .

In 1899, Agnes Keyser and her sister Fanny founded King Edward VII's Hospital in London , following the advice of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910). The hospital was used for the sick and injured officers from the Second Boer War . The Prince of Wales and Ernest Cassel were among the hospital's early patrons.
