Agnocoris reclairei

Agnocoris reclairei is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).

features

The bugs are 4.7 to 5.4 millimeters long. The species has a conspicuous brown base color and is easy to identify. Characteristic of the species are a keel on the head, a pale center line on the pronotum , dark arches on the membrane of the hemielytres and the dense hairs on the hemielytres. In addition, the feelers and especially their second link are very short.

Occurrence and habitat

The species is widespread in Europe, with the exception of Scandinavia, in the south to the northern Mediterranean area, and in the east across Asia Minor and the Caucasus to Iran. It is widespread and not uncommon in Germany and Austria. However, local evidence of the species is missing here.

Way of life

The bugs presumably feed on zoophytophagus, i.e. both predatory and on sap. They are found on narrow-leaved willow species ( Salix ), especially on white willow ( Salix alba ), although they are only found on older, fertile plants, which suggests that they probably suckle on the reproductive organs of the plants. Hibernation takes place as an imago in the litter under the host plants, but also in moss cushions, under loose bark or on conifers. The adults appear from May and look for suitable egg-laying places on the host plants and suckle the kittens before that . The adults of the new generation appear from July and can be observed on the plants until the end of October.
