Agonopterix arenella is a butterfly fromthe grass leaf miner family (Elachistidae).
features
The moths reach a wingspan of 19 to 23 millimeters. They have an ocher basic color and dark brown to black markings. In the rest position, the wings are folded flat and overlapping.

Way of life
The larvae feed on various species of thistle and knapweed ( Centaurea sp. ). Other forage plants are burdock ( Arctium sp. ), Serratula sp. , Eberwurzen ( Carlina sp. ) And widow flowers ( Knautia sp. ). The caterpillars are brownish and greenish in color in later stages and reach a length of nine to 17 millimeters. They begin their development in a leaf mine and continue later under a web. The species is nocturnal and is attracted to light.
