Agostino Roscelli (born July 27, 1818 in Bargone, a fraction of Casarza Ligure , Italy , † May 7, 1902 in Genoa , Italy) was an Italian priest , founder of the order and saint .

Life

Agostino Roscelli, who came from a poor family, spent his youth as a shepherd. With financial support he was able to study in Genoa and was ordained a priest in 1846 . He became pastor of San Martino d' Albaro and eight years later in Genoa. From 1872 Agostino Roscelli worked as chaplain of the local orphanage. At the same time he was a prison chaplain and took special care of those sentenced to death. Agostino also founded a school for young women. To oversee this and other projects, he founded the Institute of the Sisters of Immaculata (it .: Suore dell'Immacolata Concezione , called Immacolatine ).

Agostino Roscelli by Pope John Paul II. In 1995 beatified and on June 10, 2001 canonized . His feast day in the liturgy is May 7th .
