Agrippa (astronomer)
Agrippa was an ancient astronomer .
According to Ptolemy , he observed in the 3rd hour of the night on the 7th day of the Bithynian month Metroos in the 12th year of the reign of Domitian (92 AD) the star Alkione in the Pleiades was covered by the moon .
Ptolemy mentions this observation in connection with the determination of the precession of the vernal equinox .
Proklos cites measurements of the lengths of fixed stars carried out by Agrippa .
The lunar crater Agrippa is named after Agrippa.
