Agustín Payá

Agustín or Agustí Payá (born June 8, 1971 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish automobile racing driver .

Payá, who has been racing since 1992, took part in a large number of different racing series, focusing on electrically powered racing cars. In this segment he developed a reputation as a racing driver for ecologically designed automobile races, such as the first European racing series for cars with alternative drives, ECORaces, in which he competes for Mercedes-Benz in an A-Class E-CELL. Payá is very successful in this class and has so far won the Electro races series twice. His European track record for electric cars, which he set in 2013, can be seen as another success as a driver of electrically powered cars. Payá also took part in the Andros Trophy and Formula 3000 as a test driver .

Payá was one of the 29 members of the Drivers Club of the FIA Formula E Championship in their first season 2014/2015 and was thus able to contest test drives. However, Payá was not able to convince any of the ten teams, so that he was left without an appearance in Formula E.
