Aharon Ofri
Aharon Ofri ; (Born March 13, 1920 in Bratislava , † 1989 ) was an Israeli diplomat .
Life
Aharon Ofri studied at the Academy for Commerce in Bratislava . In 1939 he came to Palestine and in 1941 became a member of a kibbutz . Later went to Europe on behalf of the Jewish Agency to organize " Aliyah B ". From 1941 to 1948, Ofri was a representative of the Jewish Agency in Prague and Paris. From 1948 to 1950 he organized the emigration of Polish Jews to camps in Germany. In 1952 he was appointed District Officer by the Israel Interior Ministry.
Aharon Ofri studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem .
In 1961, Aharon Ofri headed the consular department of the embassy in Rio de Janeiro as first class secretary.
Aharon Ofri presented his credentials to the government of Milton Obote on July 10, 1968 as Israeli ambassador to Uganda . During his tenure in Uganda , Ofri was also accredited to the governments of Rwanda and Burundi.
Aharon Ofri was married and had two sons.
In 1989 MASHAV (Israeli Development Cooperation) founded the Aharon Ofri International Training Center in Kibbutz Ramat Rachel near Jerusalem.
