Ahead to the Sea was a folk punk band from Freiburg im Breisgau that had been on stage together since 2004.
The music is made up of various styles; The atmospheric guitar sound with Irish folk influences is striking , as are the two singing voices and the supporting role of the flute and accordion. Left-wing issues, especially anti-fascism, are formative in the text .
All three of the band's albums were released by Wolverine Records , where some of the albums by the frontman Jochen's first band - Across the Border , which came together again in 2007 - were released.
At the beginning of April 2010 the band announced on their Myspace page that they would split up.
