Ahmed Ali al-Mwawi (alternatively: al-Muwawi ) (* 1897 , † 1979 ?) Was an Egyptian officer and commander of the Egyptian armed forces in the 1948 Palestine War.

Mwawi completed his officer training in 1916. He received a post of major in the Army Training Division . In 1945 he took over command of the 4th Infantry Brigade as a brigadier. In 1947 he was promoted to commander of the superior infantry division. As the violent clashes between the Yishuv and the Palestinians increased , his division was relocated to Al-Arish .

Mwawi was promoted to major general by decree of the Egyptian King Faruq and was appointed commander of the Egyptian Expeditionary Corps in the Palestine War. Mwawi was pessimistic about the outcome of the war and told Defense Minister Muhammad Haidar that his troops were not ready for a campaign against the emerging Israel . When the collapse of the Egyptian troops became apparent, Mwawi was replaced on November 11, 1948 by General Ahmed Fuad Sadiq.

After the war, Mwawi came under fire in its own country. However, the CIA analyst and Professor Kenneth Pollack described him as a competent officer and particularly emphasized his skills in the use of combined arms.
