An Young-hak (born October 25, 1978 in Kurashiki ) is a Japanese-born football player of Korean descent with North Korean nationality.
Club career
Ans parents were born in Japan as members of the Korean minority. An grew up in Japan and attended a school there that was ideologically oriented towards North Korea . He is a North Korean citizen and does not have a Japanese passport.
His professional career began in 2002 with the Japanese second division club Albirex Niigata , and in 2003 he was promoted to the J. League with the club . For the 2005 season he moved to league rivals Nagoya Grampus Eight , before he signed a contract with Busan I'Park in 2006 in the South Korean K-League . From 2008 to 2009 he played for Suwon Samsung Bluewings , with whom he won the Korean championship in 2008 and the Korean cup competition in 2009. In 2010 he returned to Japan and continued his career with the first division club Ōmiya Ardija .
National team
The midfielder has been part of the North Korean national team since 2002. In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup , An made five appearances and was part of the squad in the final round of the 2008 East Asian Cup , but otherwise rarely takes part in games outside of the official FIFA calendar.
In the successful qualification for the 2010 World Cup , he was one of the pillars of the team as a playmaker with 13 missions.
