Aigle (nymph)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aigle ( ancient Greek Αἴγλη Aíglē , German 'shine, rays' ) is one of the naiads in Greek mythology (after Virgil the most beautiful) . According to Pausanias , who quotes the poet Antimachos von Kolophon , she and the sun god Helios are the mother of the Charites , who are generally considered to be the daughters of Zeus and the Eurynomials .

According to the Byzantine lexicon Suda , she is (because of her name) both mother of the Charites and of Helios.
