Ain Roost

Ain Roost (born May 12, 1946 in Uppsala , Sweden ) is a former Canadian discus thrower , javelin thrower and shot putter of Estonian origin.

In 1966 he was fifth in the javelin throw, seventh in discus throw and eleventh in the shot put at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston .

At the Pan American Games he was eighth in the discus throw in Winnipeg in 1967 and won bronze in Cali in 1971 . In 1972 he retired in this discipline at the Olympic Games in Munich in the qualification.

Also in the discus he was fourth at the British Commonwealth Games 1974 in Christchurch and fifth at the Pan American Games in 1975 in Mexico City; at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he did not get past the first round again.

Four times he was Canadian champion in discus throw (1971-1974) and once in the shot put (1964). He set his personal best in the discus throw of 61.68 m on May 22, 1976 in Modesto .

In 1975 he received his PhD in psychology from the University of Minnesota . Today he runs a therapeutic practice in La Jolla .
