The AirPods Pro are wireless Bluetooth - headphones with active noise cancellation of the US company Apple . They represent the high-end version of the AirPods and were announced on October 28, 2019 and launched on October 30, 2019 at a recommended retail price (RRP) of 279.00 euros. Apple's in-house Apple H1 is used as a system-on-a-chip (SoC) .

Overview

The design of the AirPods Pro is distinguished by a slightly larger ear tip and a shorter and thinner from the ear protruding rod from which the AirPods . The AirPods Pro support Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Adaptive EQ and come with a new charging cradle that supports the Qi standard . The scope of delivery includes the new USB-C to Lightning cable. For ANC, Apple uses two microphones, one pointing outward to pick up outside noise and the other pointing inward to detect and minimize residual noise. Active noise suppression compensates for ambient noise and adjusts the audio signal 200 times per second. The AirPods Pro also have a special ventilation system for pressure compensation, with which a feeling of discomfort should be prevented. Furthermore, they are splash-proof according to the IPX4 standard . By pressing the pressure sensor on the rod, you can switch between active noise suppression and the transparency mode, which also allows ambient noise. The music can also be stopped and skipped. The AirPods case has a battery with a size of 519 mAh. Apple promises with this a playback time of the AirPods of more than 24 hours and without the case a runtime of up to 4.5 hours.

compatibility

The AirPods Pro are supported from iOS 13.2, watchOS 6.1, tvOS 13.2 and macOS Catalina 10.15.1. They are also compatible with any device that supports Bluetooth 4.0 or higher, although some functions are only available with devices that use iCloud . However, updates can only be imported to the AirPods Pro with an iOS device.

The German-language online magazine Spiegel Online described the AirPods Pro as a “successful upgrade” in their short test. The noise suppression was particularly praised.
