Air Comet Chile was a Chilean regional airline based in Santiago de Chile . It was owned by Grupo Marsan and several Chilean partners. The main base was the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benetíz International Airport .
history
Air Comet Chile was founded in 2004 as Aerolínas del Sur by Grupo Marsan and several Chilean shareholders. The involvement of Chilean partners was necessary because the establishment of the Marsan subsidiary Aerolineas Argentinas was carried out. Under Chilean law, domestic airlines cannot be majority owned by foreign companies or individuals. At the end of 2007 the company was given its current name “Air Comet Chile”, based on its Spanish sister company Air Comet . It was the third largest airline in Chile. In the meantime it was also called Aerolíneas Austral Chile .
On November 7th, 2008, Air Comet Chile ceased operations "indefinitely". A planned collaboration with Sky Airline had previously failed.
