The Aire coutumière Ajië-Aro is an administrative unit of a special form ( Aire coutumière ) in the French overseas department of New Caledonia . It was founded on March 19, 1999 and comprises three parishes and part of the municipality of Poya in the center of the island of Grande-Terre . 41 Kanak tribes are registered in Ajië-Aro .
