The Aire coutumière Xaracuu (in the native language: Xârâcùù ) is an administrative unit of a special form ( Aire coutumière ) in the French overseas department of New Caledonia . It was founded on March 19, 1999 and comprises seven municipalities on the southeast side of the island of Grande-Terre . 33 Kanaken tribes are registered in Xaracuu .
