The former gravel pit nature reserve near Türnich is located in the area of ​​the city of Kerpen in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends southeast of the core city of Kerpen, west of the Kerpen district of Türnich . The Erft flows on the eastern edge . The state road L 496 runs to the north and the A 61 to the west . To the northwest extends the 206.56 hectare nature reserve Kerpener Bruch as well as the adjoining open spaces and former excavation areas to the south .

A 15.37 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Kerpen since 2010 under the identification number BM-044. The protection is placed for the preservation, development and restoration of communities and biotopes of certain wild animal and plant species.
