The Nordfeldweiher is a villa lake in the area of the city of Hürth near Cologne . It is a residual open pit lake of the former Ville-Nordfeld , which was mined here as the last mine field of the Ville. Today it is part of the Nordfeldweiher nature reserve .

In the middle part of the Ville , where from the 19th to the middle of the 20th century lignite was mined in the mine fields of the Rhenish lignite mining area, today's villa lakes were created through recultivation on an area of around 50 km², surrounded by mixed forests.

The Nordfeldweiher is located southeast of the Knapsack industrial area in the immediate vicinity of the Bleibtreusee , which is located further south, and is connected to it by an inlet. The lake is located east of the B 265 ( Luxemburger Straße ).

history

The Nordfeldweiher was created in 1968. After the area was initially only designated as a landscape protection area, it has been part of the 22.69 hectare Nordfeldweiher nature reserve since 1990.
