The Alte Erftschlinge nature reserve northwest of the sewage treatment plant between Horrem and Sindorf is in the area of ​​the town of Kerpen in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is the smallest in Kerpen and the second smallest nature reserve in the district.

The area extends north of the core city of Kerpen, east of Sindorf and west of Horrem , both districts of Kerpen, directly on the state road L 277, which passes on the northern edge. The Große Erft flows on the eastern edge , the A 61 runs to the west . The 192.1 ha large NSG Parrig extends south and the 17.675 ha NSG Stadtwald Horrem to the south-east .
