The station is also served by the Rhein-Sieg-Eisenbahn .
history
Sindorf was first mentioned in a document as Segendorp in 1141. Sindorf with the villages of Horrem and Sehnrath originally formed its own rulership , which belonged to the Archbishop of Cologne as table goods . Archbishop Engelbert II gave it to the Count of Jülich as a pledge in 1271. In the 14th century the Jülich count handed over the rule of Sindorf to the Lord of Hemmersbach as a castle fief , which united it with his rule of Hemmersbach. Until the end of the 18th century, this was the subordinate rule of the Bergheim office in the Duchy of Jülich, which was part of the Duchy of Jülich-Berg from the 15th century .
In 1872 a new mayor's office was built in the village.
At the end of the Second World War , US troops advanced on Sindorf on February 27, 1945. Shortly before, as part of Operation Grenade, they had crossed the Rur, where the front had been between them and the Wehrmacht for a few weeks . The St. Ulrich Church in Sindorf received several hits from artillery ; the sacristy burned down. American soldiers had thrown hand grenades in the basement of the church; Briquettes caught fire as a result.
As part of the Cologne Act , Sindorf was incorporated into Kerpen on January 1, 1975 .
In 2018 the "Heimatverein Sindorf yesterday and today eV" was founded. The aim and purpose of the association is to document and publish the history of Sindorf in texts, pictures, films and sound recordings.
Bürgewald
Sindorf is one of the so-called Bürgewald communities that owned the rights to the Bürgewald . According to the legend, this is due to the holy Arnold von Arnoldsweiler , through the legendary "Ride around the Bürgewald". The main town of the Bürgewald communities is Arnoldsweiler . There the Sindorf residents had to offer a candle to St. Arnold on Whit Tuesday, later on Whit Monday. This wax interest was only canceled in the 19th century. A group from Sindorf still makes a pilgrimage to Arnoldsweiler by bike, but no longer on Whitsun, but in July for the Arnoldus Week.
Religious communities
In Sindorf there are:
- The Catholic parish of St. Mary Queen. She belongs to the pastoral care area Horrem-Sindorf. The church of St. Maria Königin (Sindorf) by the architect Fritz Schaller was “Church of the Month” in the Archdiocese of Cologne in May 2004 .
- The Protestant church Sindorf with the Christ Church , which was built in the 1953rd
- The Eyüp Sultan Mosque , which was built in 2002. It is named after Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, a companion of Muhammad .

- The Catholic St. Ulrich Church has existed since the 15th century, but there was probably a church in Sindorf as early as the 11th century. After the construction of Maria Königin as a branch church it is only occasionally in function.
- House Breitmaar was first mentioned in 1356. The current building dates from 1757. A small five-sided extension from the 15th or 16th century is part of a chapel room with a ribbed vault.
- Haus Hahn, three-wing complex, today's state of the manor house from 1710, renovated around 1980.
- Sindorfer Mühle, as it is today, from around 1791, repaired in 1984 and ready to work again. Next to it is the Richlesberg moth , possibly from the 13th century
- Qwertzuiopü private typewriter museum . The oldest machine dates from 1873: a Remington I .
- The Jewish cemetery from 1830 to 1938 is located in Mühlenfeld / In den Torbenden. During the Nazi era, the cemetery was privately owned and used for agriculture. After the parcel was returned in 1947, it was reconstructed and memorial stones with the names of the buried were erected.
- Keuschenhof , half-timbered building, three-wing courtyard from the time from 1716.

In December 2002, Sindorf's rail connection to the long-distance Cologne – Aachen line was given up and a new stopping point was set up solely on the track of the Düren – Horrem S-Bahn line . The S-Bahn line 13 (previously: S 12) now connects Sindorf with Cologne every 20 minutes on working days, while the trains in the opposite direction to Düren often end in Sindorf outside of rush hour traffic.
