Neu-Bottenbroich is a district of the city of Kerpen in the Rhein-Erft district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Neu-Bottenbroich was incorporated into the Horrem district from 1949 . It is located east of Horrem across the railway line on the area of ​​the former Holzhausen farm , which is still reminiscent of a street in the village. With Kerpen it is in the Zülpicher Börde and in the Rhineland Nature Park . Landstrasse 163, a former Roman military road , and Landstrasse 277 run past the village.The A 61 runs west of the village and the A 4 runs south . On the northern outskirts, the B 55 and the Aachen-Cologne railway line pass Neu-Bottenbroich.

history

The origin of the place is the Bottenbroich farm , where the Bottenbroich monastery was founded around 1222 . The old Bottenbroich was excavated from 1949 for the Frechen open-cast lignite mine . With the incorporation of Horrem on January 1, 1975, Neu-Bottenbroich became a district of Kerpen. It was located further to the southwest in the area of ​​the now recultivated Marienfeld , known from the 2005 World Youth Day .
