Niederbolheim is a part of the Kerpen district of Blatzheim in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location, traffic

Niederbolheim is located on the Neffelbach on the border with the Düren district, directly on the municipality of Nörvenich .

An old Roman military road runs next to Niederbolheim , which led from Neuss to Zülpich and further into the Eifel ( Roman road Trier – Neuss ). The course corresponds roughly to today's federal highway 477

The Nörvenich air base is right next to the village .

The place was already connected to the railway traffic in 1905 by the Bergheimer Kreisbahn during the extension of the railway line ( Frechen -) Benzelrath - Mödrath - Kerpen - Blatzheim. Until the beginning of the 1960s, there was still a Federal Railroad stopping point . Since 1924 the railway line was carried out to Nörvenich.

The castle Niederbolheim was in 1341 as castrum Boylnheym first mentioned. The castle was a motte , seat of the Knights of Bolheim. Later owners were the Spies von Büllesheim . Hence the name Spiesburg . Today the manor, built in 1870 on the B 477, is known as Niederbolheim Castle .
