Werner Stump

Werner Stump (born December 16, 1943 in Siegen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was district administrator of the Rhein-Erft district from October 1999 to June 30, 2013 . He is married, has two children and lives in Kerpen .

Life and education

After secondary school with middle school leaving certificate, he began a career in the higher non-technical administrative service. Most recently he was a senior government official.

Political offices

Stump has been a CDU member since 1964. He was district chairman of the Junge Union in the former district of Cologne from 1968 to 1970. From 1977 he headed the CDU city association of Kerpen as chairman for 10 years and was long elected member of the CDU district executive committee. In addition, Stump is involved in the KPV , of which he was district chairman in the Middle Rhine ( Bonn , Cologne , Leverkusen , Rhein-Erft district and Rhein-Sieg district ) from 1986 to 1996.

Werner Stump was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and environmental policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group from 1985 to 1999 . From 1990 until he left the state parliament, he was also the spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in the lignite committee and chairman of the Garzweiler II open-cast mine. In addition, from 1979 to 1987 he worked as honorary mayor of Kerpens.

In 1999, Stump was elected district administrator for the Rhein-Erft district. In 2004 and 2009 he was re-elected. In 2007, the district was completely discharged through the sale of RWE shares. In January 2013, Stump announced that he would be resigning as district administrator at the end of June. On June 19, Gisela Walsken, President of the Government, presented him with his certificate of discharge at a ceremony to mark his departure with 250 invited guests.

Charitable commitment

As early as 2001, Stump and his wife founded the St. Martin Foundation , whose board also includes other political figures and church representatives responsible for Kerpen. The main focus is on supporting self-help groups and children - for example, the children's hospice movement - and young people - for example, young people with a migration background.

Foreign and post-political issues

In 1997, Stump acquired the listed Villa Sophienhöhe in Kerpen, Niederbohlheim, and expanded it into a restaurant and hotel that has been open to the public since 1999.

Honors

The district awarded Stump the ring of honor on April 27, 2015.
